Goose Creek PD: Man arrested for operating illegal tattoo business from his home

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCBD) – A man was arrested last week after officers from the Goose Creek Police Department said they received evidence he was doing illegal tattoos outside his residence .

An incident report shows the man, identified as Maurice Michael Hardwick, was tattooing people at his home at Carnes Crossroads and posted messages and images on his Facebook account promoting the company.

It also shows that his partner managed the dates through his Facebook Messenger.

The investigator said Hardwick was observed tattooing a client’s face, particularly the right cheek, on October 27.e and that photos of the client getting a tattoo were posted on Hardwick’s Facebook page.

Police said Hardwick did not have a business license to do his tattooing business from his home.

The South Carolina code of law prohibits anyone from providing tattoos without a license and specifically states that no one may tattoo another’s face in South Carolina.

Hardwick was arrested at his home on the afternoon of December 9e. He was taken to the Berkeley County Detention Center.
