Buyers Receive ‘Out of Stock’ Notices As Holidays Approach

Online shoppers received numerous “out of stock” messages in October.

Of the 18 categories Adobe tracked, electronics had the highest levels of out-of-stock, followed by jewelry, clothing, home and garden, and pet products.

“With more than 2 billion out-of-stock messages last month, consumers are starting to understand the real impact of supply chain challenges,” said Taylor Schreiner, director of Adobe Digital Insights. “Some have started to adjust their vacation strategy accordingly, with parents buying toys earlier and some settling for gift cards this season. For those who haven’t started holiday shopping yet, they’ll need to be prepared to be flexible.
